Participants from the Denver Camp in December 2025
California — Handball Futures will host a Development & Skills Camp in California alongside the Cal Cup as part of a national initiative to expand and strengthen the United States Olympic handball athlete pipeline.
The camp is designed to provide a platform for both new and experienced female athletes (18+) to be introduced to team handball or continue their development in a structured, high-performance environment. Athletes from basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, and other sports are encouraged to participate. No prior handball experience is required.
U.S. citizenship is required.
During the camp, athletes will be coached and evaluated by Handball Futures coaches, with evaluations and feedback shared directly with the USA Women’s National Team coaching staff to support ongoing athlete identification and development efforts.
“This camp is about access and opportunity,” said Michael D. Cavanaugh, Handball Futures Tournament Director. “We are creating a clear entry point for athletes who may not yet know about team handball, while also supporting those already in the sport as we build toward LA 2028.”
The camp is USA Team Handball–sanctioned and serves as an important step toward the 2026 Handball Futures Festival, a national event focused on identifying and developing future elite-level handball athletes.
